I have a PAL Panasonic TM900 and want to use a friend's NTSC Panasonic TM700 to cover a local theatre company's plays with 2 cameras.
I'd be editing on Final Cut Pro. Is that possible if I shoot AVCHD on both cameras — given that one is 60p and the other is 50p?

If you want to use multicam I'd suggest converted one of the files to change the frame rate so they match.

An ancillary question, if I may. There will be two clips, each around 120 minutes (plus separate audio). Do I set the project settings then import the clips, or is there a need to convert one clip before importing. Either way, will there be a need to render before editing?

YYou import the media before you need to make the project. These are AVCHD cameras? You'll need to import before you convert. If your system is fast enough you don't really need to render. If you have problems with playback make proxy files.
