Hotmail will not load to outlook email

Go to settings Email accounts delete hot mail account then add back again.

I don't recall Exchange server (ActiveSync) needing more than port 80 (http) and/or 443 (https) which all carriers allowed by default. What is an internet connection for if you can't use http/https ports?

This happened on my iPhone 6. I deleted the account and reset up using Outlook.com option. It would take the password, but would get an error accessing the server. Tried a bunch of different things that didn't work. Finally set up the Hotmail account by selecting the Exchange option in setting up Mail (not the Outlook.com option) and it worked.

Wonder if you have any ideas on this. I have the same problem, no problems with the carrier, other apps update fine, and I'm on data to be sure of connectivity. I deleted hotmail because that was the only option given when it wouldn't update but it won't let me load it again. I am logged in to hotmail on the PC so the account works. But, setting up on iphone as exchange tells me the POP server pop3.live.com is not responding. If I try to set it up as outlook.com it tells me "unable to verify account information" without having entered anything. The only option is to get out. It's been going on for a while and hotmail works fine on the PC, so I'm thinking it's not that hotmail is down. Is it now incompatible to load hotmail on iphones? Ideas on how to re-enter my account? This is a HUGE problem for me please reply if you see this, because much of my contacts was through hotmail so now even in my contacts I see numbers but no names.

I Installed the Outlook App. Problem solved.
