How to change the name on a previously named MacBookPro

MacBookPro, OS 10.8.5. How might I change the name of the MacBookPro, purchased used, from the name that comes up for this laptop when connecting it to the network? In System Preferences, the name of Administer and File Sharing is correctly labeled as my name. When I set up the laptop to remotely connect to a desktop Mac on the network, another name appears, which seems to be the name given by the previous owner of this laptop. Name: MacBookPro - [series of numbers] is what shows for the laptop. Please advise.
