can't open files in iCloud

When I try to open either a Numbers or a Pages file in iCloud, I get a message that says 'Loading' but it never opens. I just updated to OS X 10.11.3, but it was doing this before the update and it's still doing it. I've tried restarting without success. My files seem to be syncing with my iPod Touch, I just can't open them on my desktop.
