I would recommend you buy a cheap toy for your child.

iPhone is not a toy and expensive.

I'm not sure of the costs, but I read the other day that Belkin has a glass screen protector that can be applied right at the Apple Store. However, no matter what it may protect, if something happens, it is considered user damage and would not be covered under warranty.

If your wife wanted, it would be good to get a lifeproof or otterbox dual protector. They are amazing, yet they are a bit pricey. They protect from water, dropping, and they are military grade (at least otterbox is).

My rule of thumb for cases is always make sure it has rubber to absorb the shock and I always get tempered screen protectors which have save my life countless amounts of times. I mean if you do drop it hard it enough at the right angle you still might crack your screen, but knock on wood I haven't cracked a screen with a glass screen protector yet.

It just depends on what you're wife wants you could always get a lifeproof case if your worried about water, drops, etc, but it does muffle the speaker a bit so it may be harder to hear when you're talking on the phone.

I just got a pretty cool case/screen protector from Kalicases which I love! It doesn't make my phone too bulk and I've dropped my phone a few times and my phone is still in good shape 🙂
