RE: Bootcamp XP stopped working
iMac, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
Can you run WXP Startup Repair using the original XP installation media? I assume it is a DVD.
Can you run WXP Startup Repair using the original XP installation media? I assume it is a DVD.
I tried with the CD, but the computer automatically restarts before I can do anything.
You can see if the following steps bring up recovery.
1. Connect your Installer Media.
2. In OSX System Preferences -> Startup Disk, select your Bootcamp partition (not the Windows Installer). Unlock the Preferences, if necessary.
3. Click Restart.
4. Check if the Installer starts. If it does select Repair.
I managed to get System recovery to come up! I pressed "R" by choosing the start up disc.
I don't know what commands to use. Here is a list of the command options XP has:
ATTRIB
BATCH
BOOTCFG
CD
CHDIR
CHKDSK
CLS
COPY
DEL
DELETE
DIR
DISABLE
EXIT
EXPAND
FIXBOOT
FIXMBR
FORMAT
HELP
LISTSVC
LOGNON
MAP
MD
MKDIR
MORE
NET
RD
REN
RENAME
RMDIR
SYSTEMROOT
TYPE
I got it to work!! I followed the steps in the last thread. They make sense now that I was able to get into System Recovery.

Thank you for all your help!! I couldn't have figured this out on my own.
Excellent. Please back up OS X and Windows. I was going to post the same link for Bootcfg.
