After updating to OS X El Capitan version 10.11.3, performance of Mail and Safari absolutely pathertic, so much that I had to resort to Outlook and Chrome as primary's. Why have these two applications deteriorated to this extend, or am I the only person experiencing this:
Emails not downloading
Seaching takes ages and sometimes lock up.

The first thing you have to try is to reinstall the update that caused the damage, as it was probably corrupted. You can download OS X 10.11.3 from the Apple Support site -> Download OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 Combo Update. Then, install it by running the installer.
