storage filled for no reason

My wifi was acting up so I switched to my data to watch a 2 minute video on youtube only to be interrupted by a popup saying my storage is nearly full. The problem is it was nowhere near full before this happened and even now when I check my storage I only have roughly 10 GB worth of apps out of 26 GB storage. I have no idea where the other 16 GB are and where they came from. I should also mention that in the span of 2 minute I somehow used up 800 MB of cellular data.
