Does home sharing works with songs downloaded from the Apple store?

I have an imac running OSX 10.10.2. Home sharing is turned on. I have no trouble connecting to it with a MB Air running OSX 10.11, all my songs are playing there.

OTOH when I try to connect an iphone 6 with IOS 9.2, only a few songs show. 99% of my songs are not from Apple. Do iphones discriminate against songs that do not originate from Apple?

Not only that, iTunes on the Mac says "Status On, no users connected", so there is the possibility that those songs that do play are not playing from the Mac but from the Apple Store or some other shenanigan is going on.

Any ideas?

PowerMac, Mac OS 8.6 or Earlier, Sy7.0.1; 16 MHz, 2 MB RAM, 20 MB HD

Then the questions are as follows:

Given that the iphone says that is connected to the home sharing associated with the correct apple ID,

-Why does iTunes on the computer say "Status On, there are no users connected?"

-Why is my library not showing up on the iphone?

-Why do the songs I have purchased from the iTunes-store do show up on my iphone?
