I'm running iOS 9.2 on my iPhone 6s and I have a daily reminder at midday. Some days, the reminder shows on the screen then immediately dismisses itself without me touching the phone, the badge icon doesn't show and it's only if you open the Reminders app that you can see it's outstanding as it's highlighted in red.
