Question

Mac Pro 3.1 dual port USB 3 pci-e card not working on 10.8

I have a inateck Dual Port USB 3.0 PCI-E Card (KTU3FR-2P) that worked fine when my Mac Pro 3.1 was operating under OS10.6.8, but after upgrading to OS 10.8.5, the card is no longer operational. It can be seen as a peripheral, but the hardware description says that it doesn't have a driver. Inateck says this is Apple's domain, and 'Due to apples new driver policy there will also be no outside driver support in this case'. Is there anything I can do other than toss the card?

If inateck does not have drivers for OSX 10.8 and Apple's USB 3 drivers do not work then you are out of luck

Will/should the software automatically associate itself with the card, or are there sub-menus that point the Apple USB 3 drivers to the hardware? That's common in the PC world, but Apple has always been pretty slick when it comes to interconnections.

Some USB 3 PCle cards work with Apple drivers and so do not. It depends upon the specific card. CalDigit has some cards that work with the Appler drivers but some cards do not.

Thanks a bunch. I appreciate your comments. I'll investigate further, but more than likely ditching the card is the best approach.
