sleep indicator light behavior

Hello.

I have a Macbook Pro mid 2012 and according to this document the SIL should light briefly when shutting down.

I never pay much attention to it but did note that until recently it no longer lights up as it should for a bit when shutting down my Mac.

Nothing has changed from when it worked until it did not.

The SIL does behave normally for all other things listed in the document:

except:

Shut down

When you choose the Shut Down command, OS X first turns off the GPU. This causes the display to turn off. When the display turns off, the SIL turns on. During the few seconds of shutdown, but before power is removed from the main logic board, the SIL remains on and will not blink. When the computer is fully shut down, the SIL turns off.

Does it matter?
