Contacts showing up gray.

I just recently upgraded from 5c to a 6s and when I try to text, most of my contacts are grey as if I can't text to them, how do I fix this? I've tried resetting the phone, turning SMS off/on, resetting network settings, making sure I'm sending as SMS and checking my send & receive settings.
