why does music stop when using camera

Why does audio stop when the camera is launched in still mode, and live motion is turned off? No matter what I am listening to, podcasts, music on the phone, and so on, this happens. I did noticed this problem occurred when the Live Photos feature was added. I'd gladly give that feature up to have it working as is did before.
