My brother in law ask me why you cannot connect his 5k iMac to his 2014 Macbook Pro via Thunderbolt. I did find some literature saying it can't be done with late 2014 iMacs and newer, but don't know why. Does anyone know why and if theres a work around?

Thanks,

Apple removed that functionality. Aside from using VNC software, there isn’t a workaround.

Simply won't work is never an answer!

Okay, you can try software solutions if you like however you will be disappointed in the performance results. Try ScreenRecycler and there is another software solution however I don't know the name.

Your question comes up almost daily and the answer is always the same. However if you want to continue searching that's totally up to you.
