Update Apps using Profile Manager

OS X 10.11.3, Server 5.0.15.

Can anyone confirm for me one way or another if it is possible to use Profile Manager to update apps already installed on managed/supervised devices?

For instance, if I push out version 1 of an app to devices in Profile Manager, and that app is later updated in the App Store to version 2, can I push version 2 out to all the devices that already have version 1 installed? The app is licensed through the VPP.

I'm getting conflicting reports on this, and I haven't had any success doing so on my own. Thanks.
