Q: How to create a new photos library that starts off from the old one?or a specific date on my iphone.

I just created a new Photos library in Pictures and the old one was moved to an external HDD , which i can switch between easily by holding Option and clicking photos.I renamed the old one to 2015 and the new one 2016

The problem is when i tried to sync my iPhone ,it would not show last imported ,logically, and wants to sync/copy my nearly 11000 items, photos, videos etc....which are on my iPhone.

How can i create a New photos library that would start to sync from where the old one left off? or at least from where i want it ,like specify a certain date / item onwards?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2.1

iTunes Photo Sync is limited.  If you sync from a new Phots Library, all photos will be replaced on the iPhone  You can only sync from one library at a time.

So, all photos you want to be on the iPhone need to be in one Photos Library. If you start a new Photos Library, include all your most important photos, that you want to sync to your devices or to access from the media browser.

I tried Importing all 11 000 photos, then i deleted them all leaving only 3 pics.

I disconnected the iphone, took a new pic, reconnected again to check and it told me i had still to import the 11000 items that i just deleted, it saw them as new items as they were not in the Library....

so i can only import by manually selecting the items from now on, which will be a hassle...

    any solutions?PLEASE!!!

I dont think you understood me.

I am not "Syncing" my photos using ITUNES.

I am using "Photos" App........which replaced Iphoto.   I open Photos, and i connect iphone, it shows up as a device, and then i IMPORT the photos/vids from my IPHONE to My pictures Library.

So now, i moved this Library to an external HD, and usually everytime I Import, the Photos app sees what is new and Imports only that from the Iphone.

Now that I created a NEW Library for photos , i want it to import ONLY the new things from Today, or from a week ago as an example.

Yet it sees all my items since 3 years and wants to IMPORT them ALL, as they are not in the library.

What i did was i actually let it import them all, then i deleted them all leaving a few pics.I took a new pic on my iPhone and connected it again thinking it will start importing where it left off.

Unfortunately, it saw 11000 pics on my iPhone and STILL wants to import them ALL!!!

AS long as you delete the photos after importing, they will show s new in the import panel. ry to use "Import Selected" to import only selected new photos.

Yes this Import selected seems like the only solution i know, but it is a hassle compared to an automated one.

    Oh well, thanks Leonie !
