Hi all,
my Macbook Pro is extremely slow. Not sure if the solution is via purchased upgrades or a new Macbook but here are the specs for mine:

I also understand there are many variables including how many apps are running simultaneously but I ran activity monitor and it seems ok. I also use CleanMyMac 3 to rid my Macbook of any background junk and larger files but I;m still not happy with the results

Try downloading EtreCheck http://etrecheck.com/ and posting the results here. Maybe it will show what is causing your issues.
One of the things that will slow your computer down is CleanMyMac 3.
Uninstall it using the uninstaller provided. http://macpaw.com/support/cleanmymac/knowledgebase/how-to-uninstall-cleanmymac-3
running etrecheck now! Yeah I shut down the clean my mac and that helped. do you think i need to uninstall or just not allow it to run on startup?
Remove it and never use it.
It seems to cause problems, not fix them.
