How to remove Japanese selection from Mandarin text-to-speech function?

Hello!

I'm currently studying Mandarin and use Siri's text-to-speech option to vocalize selections of Chinese text.

Whenever I do this, however, there is an extra step - an option to specify either Japanese or Mandarin - that must be completed before I can hear the speech feedback.

I don't have Japanese selected as an active keyboard, and while I appreciate Siri giving me the option to choose, it's an unnecessary step that I regret to continue having to take.

I understand Mandarin and Japanese have related linguistic roots (hence, the option) - but is there any way to turn this off?

Just imagine if you asked Siri to vocalize a selection of English characters, only to ask you repeatedly before hand if you wanted to hear it in German first!

Appreciatively,
