Macbook pro el capitan does not recognise video camera via firewire 800

Hi!

I try to connect my panasonic ag-hvx200 to a MacBook Pro via firewire port, but nothing happens.

The camera has been used several times as a capture device, connected to a pc. So, i think, that camera works fine.

Also i would like to mention, that the firewire cable (4 to 9 pins) is brand-new.

In the ''system report'' option at the firewire tab doesn't appears any device.

Any thoughts about this?

Any other devices connected? If the doesn't appear in system report there's a hardware problem, cable, ports, or setting on the camera.

No it's first time i use the firewire connection.I thought maybe the el capitan update causes the problem...

Might be worth swapping the NEW cable for another that is known to capture.

Some brands of firewire cable do not work for capturing.

Do you know the brand name?

Hmm! The cable is a cheap-no name product. It's the only one i found after a lot of search to local shops... Do you suggest a specific one??

No special suggestion, but in the past a brand called Rockfish had a pattern of not capturing.

The only way is to test the cable with other equipment that is known to work.
