    Greetings Bat-21,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!

I understand that you are trying to reinstall El Capitan on your iMac, but receive an error to try again later. There are a couple of different ways you can reinstall OS X, such as using recovery or a backup. Which method are you using?

The following article describes the different ways to reinstall OS X. Please use this article as a guide.

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support

    Have a great day!

Thanks for your response. I'm actually trying to install El Capitan. Currently running 10.10. Initially tried to upgrade but that failed. Next I created a bootable installer on a flash drive and tried to install from there. This also failed. Next I tried a clean install. Erased the drive and attempted to install el capitan on to the clean drive from the installer flash drive this failed. Then tried again in safe mode. This failed too. I tried the clean install again the afternoon but this failed again. Below is the tail end on the install log. These lines repeat over and over. Please let me know is you have any ideas. Thanks.

Using Disk Utility to verify or repair disks - Apple Support\

not too long ago a user posted they were having issues with 10.11 and later said the model flash drive they were using was at fault. If you are attempting an install from a flash drive you may wish to use another brand if one is available to you.

Create a bootable installer for OS X - Apple Support

follow Apple Computers directions on this from the link above.

If you have any 3rd party cleaning or manage tools on your mac you should uninstall them, any Mac AV should also be removed and uninstalled it any is running. before you download the installer.

Disconnect all external devices with the exception of the mouse and keyboard

    attempt to reinstall

if the process fails it could be a corruption with the 10.11 installer, try re-downloading the installer from the App Store.

    run the new installer,

if the process fails try removing any 3rd party RAM in your system.

Turns out it was a blessing problem. Rest the NVRAM. This solved it and I have now upgraded to El Capitan using the installer flash drive. All is well.
