I understand you are hearing a chime on your iPhone when you plug it into the USB port of your MacBook Air. Here are some things to try to troubleshoot this:
- Restart your MacBook Air.
- Charge your iPhone using an electrical wall outlet.
- Try a different USB port on your Mac.
- Try a different cable for your iPhone (preferably the lightning cable that came with it).
- Update iTunes to the latest version of the software.
