Haven't made the purchase of Final Cut Pro but was curious if it has the same built-in music selection as the Mac app Photos (on El Captain, the built-in music when creating a slide show in Photos).

YYou do have iTunes access, but you might be limited by DRM restrictions. The pro apps won't allow access to copyrighted music with DRM.
if you meant the built-in music for slideshows in iPhoto:
just searched for three random titles (Hey Now, Skating, City Livin) listed in iPhoto
=> can not find in FCPX Music browser … to my surpise!

in case, I'm not searching in the wrong places, simply export a 'slideshow' with a single black pic from iPhoto, containing your music and import that to your FCPX project .................

They ARE on my drive, I can hear them.... LOL!
