Making A DEMO Reel

I am trying to put together a demo reel for a friend of mine However I can not import the files into Final Cut. The video is on a DVD+R and can be played in DVD Player on my computer. Is there anyway for me to import the files on the DVD+R into Final Cut. Or is there some other program I need that will convert the DVD+R into a quick time file or just something that can be edited in Final Cut?
