webcam and printer will not work with new mac mini running El Capitan

I recently bought a new Mac Mini (late 2014 model) running El Capitan (10.11.3)

2.8 GHz Interl Core i5

8GB 1600MHz DDR3

Intel Iris 1536 MB

After migrating over from my old Mac Mini I discovered that I could neither print anything on my Canon LBP 7010C Printer nor use my Creative VF 0700 webcam.

I have updated the drivers for the printer to Mac CAPT V.386 but it makes no difference. Also the Status Monitor won't respond when I try to open it.

As for the webcam Ive checked in the system report and its listed there under the Hardware>USB but neither Skype not PhotoBooth can detect the camera.

I'm thinking these are related problems and if anyone can offer me any advice I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

H

This

says the drivers work for EC.

Have you tried everything here:

Are you connecting via USB?

Do other USB devices work?

I would try this:

- Try resetting the SMC and NVRAM/PRAM

Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

About NVRAM and PRAM

- Try starting in Safe Mode

OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?

- Boot to Recovery and repair the startup disk

OS X: About OS X Recovery - Apple Support

- If it is repairable reinstall the OSX

How to reinstall OS X on your Mac - Apple Support

- If you do not have a backup use disk utility to restore the internal disk to an external disk so you can try to recover data.

Then format the startup disk and do a fresh install of OSX

Thanks for all the information, I'll try it and see what happens. I hope I don't have to do anything as serious as reinstalling the OS. This may take me some time!

Yes my printer is connected by USB and the other devices connected by USB are the mouse and keyboard and the webcam is USB too.

Quick question what do you mean by EC? European Community?

Thanks again.
