Word 2016 Mac lag when typing

Hello guys,

i have this issue when use word 2016 for Mac (but the same problem was for the 2011 version of office for Mac):

when i type after highlighted text, word suffer of a lag of about 1 second, so it does not record the first typings..it's very frustrating! It is like Word would analyze the selected text before starting to record other commands......

Some solutions there?

Having the same problem...

When writhing documents and reports for university with +50 pages, imagens, formulas and so, word is no painful to work...

I already rebooted my rMBP and it started to work fine, but got slow again... I don't know what is M$ doing with this office.
I already tried to switch to pages, but is so "minimal" that i don't know who to do basic things...

no, Word is the only app that is affected by slowness. but it's not so annoying for, except when i highlight a word or the entire line and right away type in some text: i have noticed that in this case, that is when i select some words at once or even only a word, Word is just like analyzes the text and takes the delay (if you look at the toolbar, you can notice that some buttons are grayed out for some milliseconds, i think when Word analyzes the highlighted text)

I did use Office 2011 for Mac and since two weeks I use Office 2016 for Mac - Word 2016 too with El Capitan and do not recognize the problem.

FYI: two days ago there is a update for Office 2016 for Mac to 15.19.1.

Close al Office 2016 for Mac applications and the browser.

Start Microsoft Auto Update and do the update.

Have you checked if the problem happened when you use Pages & the Apple Text Editor ?

Try a restart.

Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.

Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

If the problem is still there, try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.
