Q: i have OS X 10.11.3 running. If I restore my macbook pro back to factory specs will i lose all my keychain passwords. How can I save them?  Thanks.

    If you back up your user account, you can restore it after reinstalling. That will restore the keychain.

     

    The keychain is stored in your user Library/Keychains folder. You can copy the login keychain, but I don't know how to restore it separately as I've never tried.

    To open your User Library folder, hold down the Option key and select Library from the Go menu in Finder.
