internet links not connecting

I have a macbook pro 13 inch retina display-brand new. I am a life long Mac user at home and at work. When I am surfing around most of the links connect without a hitch. Then I click on something, the blue line in the window moves 1/4 of the way across and then stops. I close out the window, try again and it mat connect. Other times it takes multiple attempts. It happens from favorites and a lot in the google world. That being said, it never happens on my 13 inch older macbook pro laptop at work. I have called tech support and the answer was a restart. I do not feel I should have to restart my computer multiple times a day.

Any advice? Is it the new track pad functionality? It's driving me crazy...

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.3)
