I am Upgrading to a new Mac Book Pro, my "old" one is going to a friend !

Hi all, i am going to upgrade to a new Slimline Mac Book Pro, my outgoing 3 year old Mac Book Pro is going to a good friend of mine, i have been trying for years to get him to ditch Windows, he has finally taken the bait.

So i am asking, how is it best to prepare my old MBP before i transfer ownership ?.

Is it perhaps as easy as simply Formatting the hard drive and leaving it at that ?. If so, how would he be able to get a copy of ElCapitan ???? Would it then be easy to get hold of a complimentary copy of Pages, Numbers and Keynote ??? or perhaps they are included in ElCapitan ???? i seem to recall that i had to pay for them 3 or 4 years ago.

Questions Questions, and is there a page i can point him to that will help his MOVE from Windows to Apple to be as painless as possible, otherwise i will loose a very good friend !!!

Wow this is a lot more complicated than i first thought !.

Has anybody actually had first hand experience with what i am asking ? please. All those links above seem to relate to older versions of OS X

I would hope it would be easier to do all the hard work for myself, while i am using the new MBP

Particularly as ElCapitan and iLife is now free !
