4th gen ipod screen shows need to reboot to itunes, but it won't reboot

I have a 4th gen ipod touch and when it turns on it shows a picture of the cord plugging into iTunes....I plug it in, and it says I need to completely reboot, which I do, but it never works, what can I do if anything?

iPod touch, Windows Vista

If I understand correctly you are getting some sort of error in iTunes when you try restoring the device. I would start with the following article to help you out with that:
