My iPad Pro forced me to change my unlock code

I hadn't used my iPad Pro for about a week. This morning, when I went to use it again, it forced me to change my unlock code. I cannot find any references to this 'functionality' and want to know how to suppress it. Has anyone else seen this...? Can you direct me to the setting to suppress this?
