can anyone tell this technophobe dinosaur how to authorize my new PC for iTunes? it keeps asking for a serial number which i have given but it comes up as incorrect.

See Authorize your computer in iTunes - Apple Support. You shouldn't need a serial number anywhere in the process. Which version of iTunes have you installed?

I had problems finding how to access the side bar in order to click on the store button using the advised ctrl + b buttons, the screen simply jumped up and down repeatedly. I then clicked on what looked like an open door icon which appears in top left of page and that revealed the buttons i needed. My new PC is now authorised. Thanks for your response.
