Q: There was a problem connecting to the server

Screen share is extremely unreliable. Attempting to connect to OS X El Capitan 10.11.3

Are there any workarounds or solutions ?

There was a problem connecting to the server

The server may not exist or it is unavailable at this time. Check the server name or IP address, check your network connection, and then try again.

Having the same problem under Yosemite (10.10.5): Although my Mac shows up in the Finder window on the left side under "Shared" there is always "...a problem connecting to the server...".

Although "Back to my Mac" is marked in Sys Prefs -> iCloud and Details suggest that BtMM might be slow (NAT-PMP or UPnP off), there is actually NO connection at all....

Have to rely on an app called TeamViewer rather than Apple Share.
