I bricked my phone by changing the date to january 1st 1970 how do i fix it or will apple replace it

My phone will no longer turn on because I accidentally bricked it because I saw a false apple advertisement that said you can make your phone have the original look of the first IOS created by apple by changing the date to January 1st 1970 and turning off your phone. I did this and it broke my phone. If i cannot fix it, will apple make me pay for a new one? I think that would be outrageous considering I did not download anything..it was due to apple's faulty operating system.

Other users have also indicated that a DFU restore will fix the problem. Consider if you want to void any warranty or post-warranty support from Apple before you open it yourself, or hand it over to an independent repair facility. You might also want to check on their qualifications and reviews.

My son has done the same thing to my phone.... what is a DFU restore please?

You will need to google directions for that. However, if you are uncomfortable doing it, the you can, as one of the other posters indicated, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of the nearest Apple Store and have them take care of it.
