I do not want to use Photos. How do I import to Aperture and bypass Photos?

I do not want to use Photos, but when I try to import photos from my camera to Aperture, the computer shifts me to Photos automatically. How do I prevent this and simply stay with Aperture?

Mac mini, Mac OS 9.1.x

When Photos launches, select the camera in the sidebar of the Import panel the Import panel. Then disable the checkmark "Open Photos for this device". The next time you connect your camera, Photos should not launch, if you are using the same card and don't reformat the card.
