Ipad 3 speaker not working

my husband's Ipad Speaker not working only with headphone. This happened after downloading IOS9. Tried everything suggested in discussions, nothing worked. Took to genius bar in Apple Broadway on 13/02/16, after waiting so long in the que, witnessing other people being served ahead of us because of their gender or look!

over an hour later after complaining, (not to mention we had appointment) we hear these options:

trade in for $85 (purcahsed for $790 in 2013)

or pay $369 to replace with a new one as its out of warranty

what a joke! so disgusted with Apple, one more time.
