Migrating profile from backup

Due to problems with Windows System Image not backing up correctly, I've been forced to start from scratch. I'm told that you shouldn't copy the ntuser.dat file from an old profile, but I believe control panel settings and other stuff I want are stored in there. I tried copying the file anyway, and now Windows just immediately logs out when I try to log in.

NTuser also contains System account used to start services. It can cause problems when you copy such files. You will need to export specific Registry entries, if you want your settings.

Normally, Windows Migration Assistant can help with such migrations.

If you can explain the issue with the System Image, it may be possible to address these? Are you trying to restore a full Windows System Image to a Mac partition?
