Did you attempt the use the computer with mouse unplugged, on restart?
Or tried the SMC reset with the mouse unplugged to see if Mac is OK?
Did you check and test the USB ports in the MacBook to see if they're still
powered? Sometimes the wire going into the mouse will get a break and
so the power won't make the journey, so mouse will stay as comatose. It
may be repairable but a good used one can be inexpensive. See OWC
macsales.com or consider a new one. {mine cost me 50¢ at thrift store}
{I'd suspect something untoward happened to the mouse while in hibernation
if that's the only thing that acts up, or adds dysfunction to the MacBook in use.}
Followup information wasn't given in your thread -- I'm familiar with that mouse
and I have one here; usually they have a roller-ball issue that needs cleaning to
keep the scroll wheel effect working. -- But only if the mouse is still alive.
Good luck ... 🙂
