Q: macpro screen freeze with random patterns and colors.

For no particular reason, my screen will freeze and I get random patterns and colors and the only way I have found to resolve the problems is to close the screen and reopen it with the hope to have my screen back. Sometimes I need repeat this process numerous times. Any ideas as what might be causing this problem and hopefully a solution?

What model Mac?
This is the Mac pro desktop forum.
If MacBook Pro maybe:

The model is A1502 Mac Book Pro. Just purchased in late August or early September.

Still under warranty?

Problem with that description is likely to be a Hardware issue, unless you are running truly bizarre screen add-ons.

1) make an appointment to have Apple look at it.

2) when resolved, consider buying the Applecare extension to three years before your first one year is up -- it is not available after that.
