Battery indicator on iPhone 6 always at 100%

I have an iPhone 6 that was purchased on the release date last year. Recently, it has only displayed the battery charge at 100%. Once or twice I have seen a loading/buffering type circle next to it but the lowest it goes is 98% but still lasts the usual amount of hours. It has never been opened up, no replacement parts ever, and has never been dropped onto anything other than a pillow or bed. Have tried restarting and re setting ram. Also, I don't currently live in a country with more than one Apple store that is over 8 hours away.

The battery has a gas gauge line that gives data to the logic board regarding the battery's relative charge percent. This line is independent of the actual positive and negative lines for charging/supplying charge to the battery. You could spend a bunch of time trying to troubleshoot or recalibrate the gas gauge, or you could swap out the battery for a new one and your phone would likely be solved. Unlike a screen swap, a battery swap on an iPhone 6 is a straightforward repair. Be aware that there are varying levels of quality in replacement batteries out there, so make sure you find a source with a great warranty.

Apple does offer mail in repair service, so you have that option as well.

best of luck!
