hdmi external monitor suddenly not detected by mbp 2015

HDMI was working fine on my 2015 MBP ever since I got it a month or so ago. Now it won't even detect hdmi display (tried Option key in Display settings) and tried resetting PRAM, SMC, etc. (spelling?). HDMI cable and TV still work perfectly fine with Windows Laptops. OSX 10.11.3.
