I Can't figure out how to download an app onto my new iPad pro. I can search for an app, and it appears in the search bar, but then can't figure out how to actually download it.

To download a free or pay app from the iOS Store you tap the rectangular block that shows the word FREE or the actual price of the app.
Then, a prompt pops up to login to the iOS App Store with your Apple ID & Password to accept the purchase and download to your iDevice.

ican type in the search bar, but it doesn't provide the app, the name just stays in the search bar.
Are you sure that this particular app is available in your specific country's App Store? Not all apps are avaialble everywhere.
YEs, I can't seem to get any apps.
In the App Store App when you type the app name in the search bar, you can either hit the return key to bring you to that app provided you searched for the correct app name or tap on the correct name that comes up in the list of suggested app names that appear below the App search bar.

MY daughter solved it. She powered my iPad down and up again, then the App Store app worked properly.
