Disable 3rd gen remote from 4th gen Apple TV?

I have two TVs and two Apple TVs near by; TV 1 has the 3rd generation Apple TV, and TV 2 has the 4th generation Apple TV. The problem: The aluminum 3rd generation remote is controlling the 4th generarion Apple TV, that I never paired it with in the first place. Is there not a way to disable (since it isn't paired) the 3rd generation remote from controlling the 4th generarion Apple TV?
