I have a few songs purchased from iTunes with an old email address. When I try to play them I'm told I have to authorize the computer under the old address but the computer is already authorized. Suggestions?

If the computer's not authorized with that specific Apple ID, authorize it; authorizing it for one Apple ID won't authorize it with another.
If it is, delete and redownload those songs if doing so is free in your country.
