photo book lost photos?

I created a photo book last night on Apple Photos and I even purchased the book. It loaded for a few minutes and I filled in the payment details and I got a confirmation email from Apple to say the photo book was processing. Today I opened up the digital project I'd created to take another look and I find all the photos are gone? The formatting and text are both there... where the heck are the pictures? I really hope I haven't spent €80 on a blank photobook

what does the preview you made before ordering show? Preview a print project in Photos, iPhoto, or Aperture to avoid issues - Apple Support -- the delivered book will match it

As to the photos being gone today - what has changed since yesterday? What exactly do you mean? Gone from the Book? Gone from the Photos library? what?

I didn't preview it at the time but I know all the photos were intact when I went to bed last night, long after it was ordered. I just left the Mac on standby today while I was at work. Nobody else has access to it. Now, when I preview it, there are no photos in the book. The photos are still in my library...
