My magic mouse 2 won't pair with my brand new mac mini

Hi,

I just purchased a mac mini, magic mouse 2, and magic keyboard. I did what it said to pair the keyboard and mouse (plug in lighting cable usb end to mac mini, plug lightning end into mouse/keyboard and make sure mouse/keyboard is turned on) The keyboard only works while still plugged into the computer, and the mouse does not work at all. I am wondering if the 2 things come charged, or if I have to charge them. I read somewhere that 2 minutes of charge on the mouse would provide 9 hours of use, but I have had the mouse plugged in for longer than that, unplugged it, then tried to use it and it still won't work. The wifi is working and the computer is hooked up to it. Does anyone know why the devices won't pair?

I'm assuming you solved the problem but never came back to explain so having just had the same issue I thought I would explain what i did to fix it. The answer is weird! So I opened the Magic Mouse 2 box and connected it to my computer - then waited for it to be charged 100% - it came with a 90% charge anyway so this didn't take long. I unplugged the cable hen tried to use it and nothing happened. I checked the settings and it said it wasn't connected. I plugged the cable back in and my computer saw it perfectly. Unplugged and nothing. Was about to get a bit grumpy as I had just exchanged this M2 for another one that had done exactly the same thing. Now I was confused. i had followed the instructions and two mice hadn't worked when disconnected from the cable. Then a friend popped round and we had a cup of tea! My computer went into sleep mode. She left and I came back up and wiggled the mouse and low and behold- it worked! I have no idea why but it just worked! So there you go. If it won't connect, leave it switched on and searching, go and make a cup of tea and then come back and wake your computer up! I'm sure there is a logical reason for this butI have no idea what that might be! Maybe apple think we should all drink more tea!
