Help! Can't mirror 2009 Macbook Pro to TV via Apple TV3

Hey all,

Hoping someone can help here. What do I need?

I have a mid 2009 Macbook Pro, fully updated through this date with El Capitan, 2/14/16.

I also have a 3rd Generation Apple TV, which I would like to use to mirror what is on my Macbook to my television.

Asking some of you experts here how to do it and (if any) what cables I need to do so.

Not sure if Airplay is an option, as I don't see it in my tabs.

Thank you in advance- here's a pic of my setup.
