Jason thank you, I spent like 3 hours yesterday chatting with apple support with no luck , they will escalate it to their engineering team.
however, as I connected to a different wifi network than the one I have at home, the Air Drop worked, is it something to do with the DSL router settings that I have at home.
I even connected both the macbook and iPhone to a 4g router with wifi (although was not connected to net but just to connect them to a same wifi - different than the one I have at home ) and it worked.
this means it will work with specific wifi settings in the router , or maybe this can be applied to wifi settings in the macbook , I am confused while awaiting a reply from apple.
Also , the iMessage doesn't work in my macbook , not sure if this is also related , it shows inactive.
