Safari delay on google searches

I am having a strange problem with Safari. Here are the symptoms:

I open a new tab in Safari and type in a search term, for example, "Apple Support" (this actually just happened for me. Nothing will happen for maybe a minute and then I get the "Safari CAn't Open the Page" error.

If I hit Refresh, the results pop up instantaneously.

This happens for maybe 1 in 5 searches.

In addition, if I right click on some search results and select "Open in New Tab" about 1 in 5 times the same thing will happen in the newly opened tab. If I right click on 4 links, the problem will occur in the 4 newly opened tabs. Wait until the load fails, and then Reload and it works.

In my Network Preferences for DNS I have 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 and for Search Domains I have attlocal.net.

Very odd behavior. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Howdy Bryan!

It sounds like the initial search doesn't seem to work until you refresh the page, and then you can load the page without issue. I would use these two articles to help troubleshoot that:

If Safari doesn‘t load a page or webpage items are missing

Then test the issue again. If it persists then use this one:

If Safari is slow, stops responding, quits unexpectedly, or has other issues
