Q: 4th generation shuffle won't turn on or charge

I have the 4th generation shuffle, I believe mid '15 version. All of a sudden, it just stopped working. Red light comes on for 5 seconds, disappears. Charged for hours, no green. Never shows up on iTunes either.

Troubleshooting done:

- multiple USB ports (3.0 and 2.0)

- 2 different laptops, one Windows 10, other Windows 8

- usb wall charger (.5 amp)

- usb car charger (2 amp)

With the car charger, I read a trick where you unplug, replug until the red light stays on instead of disappearing after 5 seconds. After about 5-10 tries, it stays on only on the car charger. But, I've charged it straight for well over 45 minutes and it remains red. I unplug, turn on but nothing. No green light, nothing. Dead.

What could it be? Was working flawlessly for a long time.

iPod shuffle, Windows 10

You've done a good job trouble-shooting to rule out most possibilities, to except for faulty shuffleSince it's been less than one year since purchase date, you should have your shuffle looked at under warranty.

If you have an Apple Store nearby, you can take it to the store's Genius Bar (tech support staff).  You can make a reservation using the store's web page

Otherwise, you can start here to contact the official Apple customer support.

The problem may be a faulty USB docking cable, if it's not making good contact for charging. So be sure to take it along.
